Oh c'mon, this was the inaugural Beat the Blerch marathon. I had to dress up.
And I had to dress up as something iconic from The Oatmeal that birthed the whole Blerch phenomenon from its webcomic vagina. And The Oatmeal did several strips about his love for the irreplaceable rooster sauce.
This was my first ever trail marathon... and it was rough. I don't think I would ever miss the soulless concrete on the highway ramp of Orlando that much but I sure did. Don't get me wrong, running through the trails of the Pacific Northwest was absolutely beautiful but with beauty, comes pain. Dodging sticks and rocks and caterpillars (apparently it was "The Season") took a quite a toll on my ankles.
The dress was a bit thick and definitely not moisture-wicking but the weather was splendid and I felt mostly breezy during the whole 26.2 miles. Iron-on decals for dark fabric is my new jam. It's just a thin sheet of plastic you cut and melt it onto fabric. Brilliant. The bottle cap had was made with rolled up foam sheets, secured with U-glu tape thingies, and gluegunned onto a basic headband. Spiccccccccyyyyyyy.
